Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Field Services Technician/Technologist within our US Operations. Reporting to the Technical Field Services Client Manager the successful candidate will be accountable for planning and executing projects, providing technical expertise, mentorship and leadership to junior team members, preparation and monitoring of processes for successful execution of projects and assisting in maintaining client relationships and developing new business in Houston and the United States.

Accountabilities

Client Development

Help build and maintain relationships with clients to identify client needs, respond to proposal requests and complete proposal preparation
Attend pre-contract client meetings to help solidify Magna’s position and increase client confidence in the local Magna team
Demonstrate an entrepreneurial approach to building client relationships and growing the business in the United States
Seek out networking opportunities with potential clients and industry colleagues through industry networking events to grow Magna’s presence in the region

Project Management

Create client proposals including scope, schedule, and budget
Prepare and deliver 10 quotes/proposals per month
Manage and execute projects won through individual efforts as well as projects assigned from your Manager
Turn opportunities identified through individual efforts into projects for $250,000 of revenue during the first year of employment.  Future revenue targets would be developed on an annual basis.
Provide referrals to Engineering for new projects
Work hands on and complete technical work as required
Travel to various regions to complete project work as required to ensure high utilization

Project Leadership

Ensure proper, complete preparation is done for scheduled work, including tools and equipment required
Ensure safe work process is executed with each job and a culture of safety is fostered
Apply practical application experience and knowledge of power systems related to  low, medium to high voltage projects
Work safely around low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems in a variety of environments, including commercial, utilities, manufacturing, mining, pulp and paper, pipeline and oil and gas
Perform electrical system maintenance, including equipment testing, repair, and troubleshooting
Ensure work is properly executed and accounted for
Ensure completion of reports and follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction and completeness of work.
Be a mentor and coach for junior employees and a cohesive member of the team
Provide specific technical expertise to projects and help in the development of employee skills

Qualifications

10+ years experience as an Electrical Technologist/Technician/Power Systems Electrician/ Certified Engineering Technologist/Electrical Engineer 
NETA IV certification
Hands-on field experience commissioning, testing or maintaining power delivery equipment, including breakers, switchgear, relays, transformers
Broad knowledge in industrial, utility and commercial environments
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to engage, motivate and develop a team to achieve results
Proven ability to proactively and effectively communicate with various cross functional stakeholders to achieve operational excellence
Ability to multi-task, exercise good judgment and prioritize workload through outstanding organizational skills
Excellent time management skills with an attention to detail
Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Dedicated to providing exceptional client experiences to our internal and external clients
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with highly developed relationship management skills to interact with various levels within the organization
Proficient computer experience in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
Proven commitment to safety
Must have a valid drivers’ license
The ability to travel and work flexible shifts, which include weekends, evenings and statutory holidays
A positive, “can-do” attitude, is highly self-motivated, energetic, passionate and reliable
