Senior Accountant

Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in our Edmonton office. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will be accountable for finance and accounting functions for multiple legal entities with offices in Canada, USA, and Chile.
Accountabilities
- Analyze and prepare full cycle accounting required monthly journal entries

- Supervise Accounts Payable coordinator role
|
- Complete various account reconciliations
|
- Ensure timely generation of Intercompany invoicing with subsequent reconciliation between Companies
|
- Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting for management
|
- Prepare year end reconciliations and coordinate year-end review engagement with external accountant
|
- Assist with the preparation of Company Annual Operating Plans, and subsequent reforecasts
|
- Support regional offices in Canada, U.S. and Chile on education and development of accounting and finance knowledge
|
- Provide overall expertise and leadership to larger administrative group
|
- Work cross functionally with Operations and Central Services (IT, HR, Supply Chain, etc) to coordinate improvement initiatives and implement Accounting practices as needed
|
- Complete a range of special projects as required
|
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Professional accounting designation with a minimum of 5 years experience preferred
|
- Experience with project based accounting preferred
|
- Knowledge of databases and ability to mine, build analytical models, and analyze data
|
- Familiarity with Power BI reporting tool a plus
|
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
|
- Familiarity with Deltek Vision (Magna’s ERP) a plus
|
- Experience with banking, insurance, credit management and taxation
|
- Effective communication skills both oral and written
|
- Ability to work well in a team environment
|
- Adaptable and willing to lead change productively
|
- Internal or external audit experience is considered an asset
|
- Ability to travel (Canadian, U.S., International) minimal requirements (less than 5%)
|
- A positive, “can-do/will-do” attitude and client focused approach
