We have an exciting opportunity for a Client Manager in the Michigan / Ohio region. The Client Manager will be accountable to develop new business and execute projects in the respective areas through technical expertise, industry knowledge, and client relationships.  Responsibilities include business development, client maintenance, financial accountability, project execution, and safety; ultimately generating revenue and providing exceptional client service through the completion of Engineering and Field projects.


Sales / Business Development

  • Develop a strategy to  increase brand awareness  and prospects for potential new clients
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients to develop new work and drive repeat business
  • Cold call as appropriate within geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of leads and opportunities
  • Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging industry networks
  • Present new services and enhance existing service offerings
  • Identify and meet with decision makers and learn needs and current vendors
  • Follow up on leads and turn them into opportunities
  • Maintain Client Relationship Management (CRM) data
  • Participate in trade shows, events and networking functions
  • Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective clients
  • Develop and improve processes and procedures to continually improve sales capabilities
  • Prepare and review proposals for projects

Project Management

  • Oversee all aspects of the projects
  • Plan resources effectively and work collaboratively with other client managers and regions to share resources
  • Ensure proper, complete preparation and execution of scheduled work
  • Ensure safe work process is executed with each job and a culture of safety is fostered
  • Ensure completion of reports and follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction and completeness of work
  • Ensure accurate and timely project invoicing
  •  Ultimate responsibility for client service delivery on all projects

Processes & Systems

  • Analyze Magna IV Engineering’s business model to determine the most effective means to coordinate Engineering and Technical Field Services work; for the purpose of ensuring that we are offering the most comprehensive solution to our clients
  • Drive and participate in the improvement of processes
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively with Operational and Central Services teams to assist in implementing and executing all Magna practices and processes

Business Objectives

  • Work collaboratively with Senior Leadership to set objectives aligned with Magna’s overall operating plan, goals for growth in expertise, services and volume
  • Meet and exceeds company objectives and goals
  • Work with Senior Leadership to determine yearly budget requirements and meet budget objectives
  • Work with Senior Leadership to measure department performance as it relates to key metrics such as client maintenance activities, proposal generation, revenue, labor utilization and project margins

People Leadership

  • As we develop business in the respective region the Client Manager will recruit (with HR) and directly lead new Engineering and Field Service team members.  This includes: managing, organizing, motivating, and coordinating a team of Engineers and Technicians who are responsible for project execution

Success Measurements

Success measurements will be established in regards to:

  • Safety
  • Developing new business
  • Proposal Generation
  • Revenue (client managers will typically be responsible for up to $2M in annual revenue from labor-based projects)
  • Gross Profit Margin
  • Labor Billing Efficiency & Utilization


  • Electrical Engineering Degree or Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma complemented by 8+ years of proven experience in Sales, Leadership and Project Management
  • Technical background in Electrical Engineering and/or Technical Field Services
  • Masters of Business Administration would be an asset
  • Professional Engineer, Professional Licensee, Professional Technologist, or Certified Engineering Technologist designation

  • Broad knowledge in commercial, industrial and utility environments
  • Proficient computer experience in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in dealing effectively and quickly with change in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment
  • Ability to travel to manage and grow the sales territory
