Senior Financial and Reporting Analyst

Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Financial and Reporting Analyst in our Edmonton office. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will be accountable for a wide variety of finance and accounting functions for multiple legal entities with offices in Canada, USA, and Chile.
Accountabilities
- Develop and report Annual Operating Plans (AOP) and periodic forecasts (excel based model building and manipulation skills are essential) – through collaboration with Operations to collect and interpret inputs
- Assist with monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting with analytical commentary for management and operations
- Develop/improve perpetual dashboard (Power BI and Excel), exception based, financial reporting and analysis
- Analyse and prepare monthly Commodity and Corporate tax accounting entries and filings for Canada and the USA Assist accounting team with pre-posting transaction reviews and monthly account reconciliations
- Assist with year end audit through preparing and analysing year end account reconciliations for several companies while working with external auditors
- Work cross functionally with Operations and Central Services (IT, HR, Supply Chain, etc) to coordinate improvement initiatives and implement Accounting practices/policies as needed
- Support regional offices in Canada, U.S. and Chile on education and development of accounting and finance knowledge
- Complete a range of special projects as required
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Professional accounting designation with a minimum of 5 years experience preferred
- Experience with project based management accounting preferred
- Knowledge of databases and ability to mine, build analytical models, and analyze data
- Familiarity with Power BI reporting tool a plus
- Advanced excel skills – a MUST
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Experience with banking, insurance, credit management and taxation accounting
- Effective communication skills both oral and written
- Adaptable and willing to lead change productively
- Internal or external audit experience is considered an asset
- Ability to travel (Canadian, U.S., International) minimal requirements (less than 5%)
