Magna IV Engineering was hired to upgrade the 15kV distribution system at the East side of the Southgate Shopping Centre in Edmonton. The project was completed in 4 phases over 5 years on a turn-key basis. The existing distribution system utilized the transformers in underground vaults. The vaults had deteriorated and the transformers were old and unreliable. The 15kV main electrical room at the East side utilized an open bus system, which was very unsafe.
Magna IV Engineering redesigned the electrical system to bypass the 15kV electrical room and underground vault system with new pad mount transformers and switching cubicles. Third party electrical contractor was hired and managed by Magna to complete the onsite construction. Magna IV Engineering procured equipment and completed onsite commissioning before start-up.
