Waste Material Loadout System, Electrical and Control Engineering

Overview

The Peñasquito Polymetallic Mine is located in the state of Zacatecas in central Mexico. The mine is owned by Goldcorp, a Canadian-owned company and Mexico’s largest producer of gold.

As part of the mine’s operation, waste material is broken down by a cone crusher and transported by several conveyors to a stacking site. There are 3 conveyors controlled by wound rotor motors and 1 downhill, regenerative conveyor controlled by VFDs.

The stacker is manually controlled by an operator. A track-based tripper car follows the stacker automatically.

Magna IV Engineering provided engineering services for the mine’s waste material loadout system, including:

  • Electrical Power System Design
  • Control System Design
  • SCADA System Design
  • Control and HMI System Software Development
  • Electrical Site Supervision
  • Start-up and Commissioning
