Expansion of the polyethylene facilities at the NOVA Joffre site included a world-scale polyethylene reactor (R3). R3 is designed to produce between 950 and 1,100 million pounds of Linear Low Density Polyethylene. This will result in an approximate 40% increase in the overall site polyethylene capacity.
Magna IV Engineering’s scope of work for the project included 15kV and 5kV EPR cable terminations associated with the NOVA R3 project.
Cold shrink stress cones, supplied by Magna IV Engineering, were applied on 51 shielded cables, for a total of 306 terminations.
Full acceptance testing was completed on all cables after termination. The acceptance testing included VLF withstand and Tan Delta.
