Magna IV Engineering was engaged as a sub-consultant to provide power distribution, lighting, controls, instrumentation, and SCADA design services for the new Roxborough Water Treatment Plant, south west of Denver, Colorado. This 8 million gallon per day plant contains 8 filter sections and 2 clear wells along with chemical skids, 3 clarifiers, and UV disinfection process within the three-building facility. The system encorporates Cutler-Hammer/Eaton Switchgear and Motor Control Centers, and is controlled by an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC from a manned control room. The plant has a 2500A 480V 3-phase electrical service with 100% emergency backup power. There are 5 125HP distribution pumps along with multiple motor loads in the 3-100HP range. Magna IV Engineering's scope also includes meter vault and network design, as well as area classification for rooms with hazardous location requirements.
