  • Update language to align with the update
  • Understand and comply with due diligence requirements
  • Adopt the new recognized methods for identifying electrical hazards and risk assessment
  • Plan Electrical Safety retraining; it must be completed at intervals not to exceed 3 years
  • Identify electrical maintenance initiatives to include in your Electrical Safety Program
  • Schedule your next annual field work audit

Major Changes to the Standard

  • Content and terminology from CSA Z1002 has been added to support a risk assessment focus
  • Numerous Electrical Safety Program changes, including added maintenance items and a requirement for yearly audits of field work
  • Changes to the shock protection boundaries, including deletion of the Prohibited Approach Boundary
  • Significant changes to the selection of arc flash PPE; new and revised tables added to aid in the utilizing the Arc Flash PPE Category Method
  • Hazard/Risk Category ‘0’ removed
  • Additional requirements in regards to equipment labeling
  • New section on human performance and electrical safety
